This HDPE high performance rudder was designed with a 3" deeper draft, a true NACA 0012 high-performance foil section, a fixed, non-kick up, balanced rudder blade. This is the design used by Bill Teplow's Potter 19 s/v "Chubby", who sailed to Hawaii and to Alaska via the inside passage. This rudder is designed for heavy weather sailing and for conditions that can overpower the original equipment rudder. Not only will you experience reduced helm effort, this rudder helps prevent broaching by controlling the boat in following seas, fast downwind sailing, and gives additional lift to help your Potter point to weather. Docking and tacking are easier and crisper, giving you more control of your boat during low-speed maneuvers. This rudder includes a pair of our super-duty stainless pintles. The best offshore Potter rudder built, no exceptions.

To ensure accurate pintle placement also fill out a Rudder Worksheet.

Equip your new rudder with a new mahogany and white ash, laminated tiller. By ordering your tiller with your rudder, you will receive tiller brackets ($49), bolts ($3.75), and labor ($18) for free, which is a $70 value. This eight layered, laminated tiller comes ready-to-varnish with marine penetrating oil or choose to have your tiller varnished with premium UV resistant spar varnish . Or, our epoxy and varnish finish has an epoxy base coat to ensure a long and low maintenance life for your tiller. You can view the different tiller styles by viewing our Tiller Worksheet.

Don't forget the tiller cover made from Pacific Blue Sunbrella, to protect your new tiller from the elements.

Although the picture does not show it, our P19 Bluewater Fixed Blade is designed to accept your original factory tiller with 1.5" width butt end.
